Paulin's
Tradition of Excellence Dates Back 8 Decades
Paulin Electric can
trace its tradition of excellent service and quality workmanship
back a full eight decades!
Now led by Gene Paulin Sr., Paulin Electric is a family owned
partner in Integrated Electric Service -- a national premier
provider of electrical and communications services.
Thanks to our partnership in IES, our customers can harness
the power of more than 16,000 skilled service professionals
over 150 locations across the United States while enjoying the
personal service that only a locally based company can provide.
Paulin Electric's roots date to 1922, when Gene's uncle, William
Huber, started into the electric business. Gene's stepfather,
Stanley Evans, worked with Huber until 1950. He then operated
Eanes Electric, a two-employee operation that, because it
was too far to drive, would not accept jobs past Preston
Highway. Gene started work for the company in 1951.
In 1960, Gene left the company to start his own, with himself
as electrician and Hubert Dennis as his helper. Hubert is still
with the firm.
At first, Paulin not only did electrical work but built entire
homes, completing as many as 10 a year, before the company began
to specialize exclusively in electrical work. However, the building
experience helped in the growth of the company because Gene
says, He has been there as a builder and has a feeling
for the builder, and knows where he/she is coming from.
Genes wife, Nancy, has been an integral part of the companys
success. In the early days, she did secretarial and bookkeeping
for Eanes Electric, and then did the same for their company.
But she didnt stop there. In 1980, she became one of the
first women to be licensed as an electrical contractor in Jefferson
Country, and has a state contractors license.
Paulin Electric is truly a family business. In addition to Gene
and Nancy, who are officers, two sons, Gene, Jr. and Stanly,
are vise presidents. The business also employs two sons-in-laws,
one daughter, one grandson, three nephews and Genes brother.
Today, Paulin Electric has more than four dozen employees including
General Manager George Powers and has 20 trucks, with vans going
every day to Lexington and Elizabethtown. They have completed
projects all over the state and are licensed in Kentucky, Indiana
and Tennessee.
The modern offices and plant are located on eight acres at 8803
National Turnpike near the Gene Snyder Freeway.
The companys philosophy has been to hire helpers and train
them to become electricians specializing in new construction.
This system has worked well for the company, as evidenced with
the high level of employee satisfaction. Most electricians have
been with the company since their graduation from school.
Gene is very proud of his company and its success, but has given
back to the community by being involved with the Louisville
and Lexington Home Builders Association, Jefferson County Electrical
Board of Control, Independent Association of electrical Contractors,
International Association of Electrical Inspectors and the Associated
Builders and Contractors.
When not working or being with the family, Gene and Nancy are
active church members, compete in ballroom dancing, and play
a little golf.
So when you need quality, dependable electrical work, You
should be callin Paulin at (502) 361-1247.
